How Perrine Met Sona*

Once upon a time there lived a mom. She adored her husband and two daughters. He was supportive and loving; her 9 year old twins were the perfect representation of their love. She sat at the table after they all went to sleep one day and started crying. Why don't her kids and husband understand how debilitating it is for her to have so much clutter around? How is it that her husband can function so perfectly even if the house is a total mess while her mind races from one place/thought to next distracting her from work, housework responsibilities…from everything? Why couldn't she just be like them; why couldn't she just not care?

One day she came across a book called, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.” After reading the book she decided to research and find a Marie Condo certified professional organizer and hire her regardless of the cost. She loved her family, and she no longer wanted to feel any kind of resentment at the end of the night. This problem had to be solved.

She finally hired the expert. Unfortunately, things didn't pan out the way she'd hoped. She paid quite a lot of money but unfortunately all she got at the end of the session was feeling judged and a hefty bill (the expert had charged her for an entire hour she'd stayed after the session to have tea and talk about her life).

One day she was on a Facebook mom group and saw a post by a decluttering coach asking moms to post all their decluttering/organizing questions. She answered them as a way of giving back. Reading the answers our heroine began to feel a glimmer of hope taking hold in her heart. She went to the coach's website and after reading a few testimonials decided to write a detailed email about her clutter struggles. That was how I met Perrine.

Perrine initially hired me for one job but ended up spending part of her inheritance to do most of her home because the difference her clutter-free home made in her relationships and mental well-being “was worth every penny.” Her words, not mine! She said that because of the systems we created in her kitchen alone saved her 1-2 hours A DAY!

She ended up becoming my favorite client and here's why:

Perrine was open and honest about the organizing challenges she experienced because of her ADHD and, most importantly, she was ready to make all the necessary changes to have the clutter-free home that she deserved. She was committed to doing the work.

She told me that the reason she was so open with me was because she never, for a second, felt judged. I hear this from so many of my clients and friends. I don't judge because I have been through a lot, and my life experiences have given me so much empathy for people's pain… whatever that pain might look like.

I can't wait to get to know you and your stories. Please feel free to share your organizing struggles with me or simply tell me a few things about you. Meanwhile, here's a little gift from me as a token of my appreciation for making it this far.
